If yes, the short answer is this….This role’s day-to-day function is applicable to a base employee population of approximately 150 employees; however, this role also has the opportunity to share skills and expertise for a total larger employee population of approximately 400-500 employees across the US and Canada in partnership with other team members within the Finance/Payroll team and/or the Human Resources team. Responsibilities

SUMMARY

 

In your role as Human Resources and Payroll Manager ("dual-role"), you will be responsible for the administration, coordination, support, evaluation, and management of day-to-day payroll operations and human resources encompassing duties impacting the complete employment lifecycle of the employee population. You will report to and receive day-to-day direction from the CHRO along with the Senior VP of Finance for Payroll/Finance specific items. You will take a lead role and provide professional-level support in organizing, coordinating, and carrying out all payroll and human resources projects and processes for the respective departments. Your role performs administrative, support, lead, and management duties affecting employees based in the US for two companies/entities and fosters positive employee relations interactions and work environment.

 

In conjunction with senior Finance and/or HR management team members, your role is a vital source of payroll and human resources information and works in a highly visible role. You will act as a bridge between employees and department management as the first person employees may contact and/or interact with related to a Payroll and/or Human Resources matter. Your mindset and actions are strategic and tactical, where tactical duties are performed with an understanding of Payroll and Human Resources' strategic impact on the business. You will perform duties associated with (including but not limited to): administrative tasks, benefits administration/reporting; compensation administration/reporting; employee engagement/retention; employee file maintenance/compliance; onboarding; recruitment (talent acquisition); training and development; safety; unemployment; entity payroll and financial reporting and applicable corporate human resources, payroll, and financial reporting. You will be supporting an organization that is radically redefining Horse Racing. You will support and ensure the maintenance of perception and reality where Human Resources is 'beyond reproach' related to accountability, confidentiality, fairness, and consistency.

Qualifications

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of overall Payroll experience in an organization of at least 150 employees, including but not limited to: payroll processing, tax filing, tax reconciliation, and accounting/general ledger experience related to payroll
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of comprehensive Human Resources experience with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in performing 'HR Generalist/HR Manager' type functions/duties, focusing on benefits, compensation administration/management, and employee relations.
  • Direct payroll experience with ADP including leading/participating in implementation of new system and/or updates to system (after completion of implementation).
  • Generalist/Management background with broad knowledge of benefits, compensation, employee engagement/retention, employee relations, recruitment, and training & development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software (One Drive, Google Docs) along with HRIS and Payroll systems (Applicant Tracking - iCIMS and ADP)
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and knowledge of confidential matters
  • Business acumen in understanding program operations and finance and how this role contributes to the business
  • Strong communication skills: Confident and capable of respectfully engaging in positive, driven, and motivating dialogue with department team members, hiring managers, employees, and stakeholders. Successful track record in building and maintaining relationships (confidence and credibility) at all levels within the company
  • Ability to work at ease with cross-functional teams spanning multiple US/Canada locations

  • Knowledge of horse racing is a plus

Preferred Experience and/or Education: Applicable SHRM and/or HRCI certifications (PHR/SHRM-CP); Prior experience with employee populations of 250-500 employees

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • May require travel up to 20%, including travel outside of the local area, including overnight stay.
  • Position can be based at the Washington, PA location. Position classification as “Hybrid” available.
